Sword Belt

By the 14th Century, the sword belt usually had a buckle to fasten it.  In earlier periods, it was tied in a knot like this:

It is a detail from the funeral brass of Sir John de Wautone and wife, dated 1347.

But, this sword belt has an old-fashioned knot.  It is from the Manesse manuscript, which is dated around 1330.
