This broadsword is 36" long and has a plain cross hilt. Ornate swords like the ones in the movies are more fantasy than history.
This is a picture of a 14th Century broadsword from the Manesse manuscript, which is dated around 1330.
I bought my sword on eBay. It's a Pakistani reproduction, and more for show than for combat, but it was a bargain.
